Link, the Hero from the Legend of Zelda series, against Vivi, the little Black Mage from Final Fantasy 9.

===== Judge's Analysis =====

Close Range - Edge to Link. The Master Sword is a powerful blade. Forged by the sages to defeat the Darkness (Ganon). So it would be extremely effective against all Dark magic users.

Medium Range - Edge to Vivi. Link's hookshot is primarily a defensive weapon. Yes it can do some damage to the opponent, but not a tremendous amount. Given that Vivi is using lightning magic, the hookshot might make a prime conductor for a lightning bolt if used.

Long Range - Edge to Link. Link's arrows are fast and powerful, while Vivi's magic takes a while to cast.

Special Weapon - Edge to Vivi. Link's may be useful for blocking/reflecting Vivi's other spells... [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV7Dy-Oo4SQ|Doomsday]] is in another league. It may not even be able to be blocked.

Link was able to defeat Vivi (Black Mage) through a combination of his mirror shield to reflect minor magic attacks while wearing Vivi out by using up all his mana and using his arrows to interrupt Vivi's more powerful magic attacks.
